About the scholarship:

Originally established to support Overseas students, the Clarendon Fund first welcomed scholars to Oxford in 2001. The scheme was expanded in 2012 to include students from the UK and EU, therefore providing funding for all fee statuses. Throughout this period, the Fund’s aim has remained unchanged; to assist academically outstanding graduate students through their studies at the University of Oxford.

Selection criteria:

Outstanding academic record

A stellar academic record is necessary. Most accomplished students typically hold a first-class honors degree or its equivalent. For instance, if the grade is out of 4, a GPA of at least 3.7 is required, but many Clarendon scholars receive better grades.

Future potential and aptitude

Particular consideration is given to an applicant’s future academic potential and aptitude for the proposed course of study. This may be assessed by reviewing references and research proposals to determine evidence of an applicant’s aptitude for research and the likelihood of contributing significantly to the field of study.

Student motivation

This is assessed through evidence of the applicant’s commitment to the proposed course as well as evaluation of the personal statement and the referees’ reports.

Application:

If the student applies by the deadline in December or January, depending on which month best suits their course, they will be automatically considered for Clarendon. You don’t have to turn in a different application
