The Howard and Gladys Sleath Scholarships 2023 are available to students pursuing a Bachelor of Music degree. Your application must be submitted by a deadline that varies.
The University of Queensland (UQ) is the provider of this scholarship, and its only value is the first year’s tuition costs waived. All citizens are eligible to apply for this scholarship.
Founded in 1998 as a result of Howard Sleath leaving the University of Queensland 50% of his fortune. Musicians all around Australia were familiar with Mr. Howard Sleath for his superb craftsmanship and talent as a manufacturer of stringed instruments. Mr. Sleath donated a string quartet to the State of Queensland, to be maintained under the direction of the Head of the School of Music. At a 1974 concert to launch the Howard Sleath Quartet of Instruments, the Mayne String Quartet gave the instruments their first public performance.
Applicants must be enrolled full-time in the first year of the Bachelor of Music (Honours).

This scholarship is awarded to the applicant showing greatest merit as demonstrated by audition.
