For those pursuing a bachelor’s degree in medicine, the German Medical Students Association – Professional Exchange/Research Exchange 2023 is available. Your application must be submitted by April 30, 2023. The International Federation of Medical Students’ Associations (IFMSA) is the provider of this scholarship, which has a full funding value that includes housing, a travel stipend, and insurance. All citizens are eligible to apply for this scholarship.
Program Description:
For the purpose of gaining practical experience abroad, medical students of any nationality registered in German higher education institutions are eligible for a clinical traineeship exchange, a research internship, or a public health exchange. In order to achieve this, the German Medical Students’ Association (bvmd) organizes more than 400 international apprenticeships each year. The arrangement involves the placement of the applicants as well as the planning of on-site housing for clinical trainees or research interns. Additionally, the bvmd offers room and board and gives students the chance to interact with their counterparts in the visiting nation.
In addition to the bvmd application fee, students must fund a public health exchange themselves and pay project expenses. In contrast to the research internships, which are scheduled in various working groups or facilities with a variety of important research areas, the clinical traineeship exchange will take place in teaching hospitals. Health organizations and (non-)governmental organizations will build up the public health exchange. The Professional Exchange/Research Exchange program of the German Medical Students’ Association supports students who want to work overseas.
Academic Requirements:
Only students who have finished their fourth semester or sixth trimester at a German medical institution are eligible to apply for the clinical traineeship exchange. Students in study programs linked to medicine may also apply for exchanges in research and public health beginning in the first semester. In order to participate in the clinical traineeship exchange, you must have already finished a clinical traineeship by the time you begin your traineeship overseas.
