Eligibility

The Knight-Bagehot Fellowship in Economics and Business Journalism, 2023 is open to editorial staff members working full-time at wire services, newspapers, digital media, periodicals, broadcast news organizations, and freelance journalists.
Applicants for the fellowship must have worked for a minimum of four years.
Academic prerequisites are not applicable, and applicants’ affiliations are not taken into account during the selection process.
Those nationally recognized organizations do not receive a higher advantage over journalists from smaller regional media.

Selection criteria:

  • The main criterion for selection is the student’s demonstration of journalistic excellence.
  • Essays and letters of recommendation for the application are also given importance while the highest weight is given to is given to work samples.
  • All documents (letters of reference, college transcripts, essays, and work samples) must be compiled and sent with the application.

Benefits :

  • The recipient of the Knight-Bagehot fellowship will get full tuition, health insurance, and $6,600 a month. Subsidized Columbia housing is also available.
