Overview: 

Beginning on July 1st of every year, the Department of Diagnostic Radiology at the University of Washington provides four Breast Imaging Fellowship positions. One full-time research faculty member and seven clinical faculty members work at the breast center at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center for the Department of Radiology. A collaboration with The University of Washington produced the cutting-edge research center and clinic known as The Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center.

The Fellowship provides extensive training in all facets of breast imaging over the course of 12 months, including:

  • Screening and diagnostic mammography
  • Breast ultrasound
  • Breast MRI
  • Digital breast tomosynthesis
  • Percutaneous interventions guided by mammography, ultrasound, and MRI

Eligibility:

  • Radiology board certification or eligibility
  • Washington state medical license
  • Approved work visa (for foreign applicants)
  • COVID-19 Vaccine Requirement: Per Washington State Governor Jay Inslee’s Proclamation 21-14.1, employees of higher education and healthcare institutions must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 no later than October 18, 2021, unless a medical or religious exemption is approved. Being fully vaccinated means that an individual is at least two weeks past their final dose of an authorized COVID-19 vaccine regimen. As a condition of employment, newly hired employees – including residents and fellows – will be required to provide proof of their COVID-19 vaccination.

One-page personal statement that explains why you chose breast imaging as a subspecialty, your training at UW, and your long-term career aspirations. Unofficial copies of your USMLE or COMLEX test results, as well as an ECFMG certificate (for international applicants).
