  • Candidates must be admitted as full-time students without provision or have cleared provisional admission as a master’s or Ph.D. student in a graduate program at the University of Manitoba.

Benefits of the (UMGF):

Successful applicants of the University of Manitoba Graduate Fellowship (UMGF) will receive the following benefits:

  • UMGF master’s awards are valued at $14,000 per year for 12 or 24 months, for up to a total of $28,000.
  • UMGF doctoral awards are valued at $18,000 per year for 12, 24, 36 or 48 months, for up to a total of $72,000.

Note:

Any one graduate student may receive UMGF funding for a maximum of five years (60 months) in total. As a result, a student who was awarded a UMGF for two years during their master’s program will only be qualified for three years of financing under the same program during their PhD studies.
The University of Manitoba Graduate Fellowship is still valid in the division or unit where it was first offered.
