The School of Graduate Studies and Massey College collaborate to offer the University of Toronto Scholars-at-Risk Fellowship, which offers essential assistance to qualified graduate students who have faced or are currently facing threats to their academic endeavors because of political environments or their status as refugees or asylum seekers.

This scholarship aims to support academic achievement, community involvement, and cultural diversity within the University of Toronto community.

Eligibility:

• Candidates must be enrolled full-time in the University of Toronto as current or upcoming master’s or PhD students.
• They should have applied for asylum or been refugees in the previous five years, or they should have been affected by shifting political landscapes in their present or intended country of study.
• demonstrated intellectual prowess as shown by research potential and transcripts.
• A financial need evaluation form is used to prove financial need.

Documents Needed:

• Personal Intent Statement (no more than two paragraphs).
• All post-secondary university transcripts.

• A copy of the offer of admission letter from the University of Toronto, if any.
• Evidence of status as a refugee or asylum seeker.
• different supporting documents (such as a passport or immigration documents) based on the specific situation.
• SGS Financial Need Assessment Form completed.One private letter of recommendation (no more than two pages)

Procedure for Selection:

• via the deadline, applications must be sent via email as a PDF file.
• Applications that are late or incomplete will not be accepted.
• Candidates’ eligibility, financial need, academic standing, and dedication to community service will all be taken into consideration.
• Referees are required to send the private letter with a specified subject line to awards@utoronto.ca via email.
