Eligibility Criteria for the NIE PhD Scholarship:

  • Applicants may come from any nationality.
  • Applicants must enroll in a full-time PhD program at the university.
  • Applicants must hold a Bachelor’s degree with honours at least at Second Class Upper level.
  • Applicants must possess a Master’s degree in related disciplines and demonstrate the capability to engage in research within the suggested area of advanced study.
  • Applicants must not currently hold or accept a job, or receive any other scholarship, fellowship, grant, or extra money.

Value of the Scholarship:

All successful applicants for International PhD Positions in Singapore will receive the following from the National Institute of Education:

    • International Student – $3,000 (STEM)
  • Other Benefits:
  • Singapore Citizens – Central Provident Fund (CPF) contributions will be based on the current employer’s contribution rate
  • Scholars clearing the Ph.D. Qualifying Examination/Confirmation – Up to SGD 500 per month (subject to conditions)

NB: Recipients must perform teaching/ laboratory supervision duties to fulfil the requirements of the Graduate Assistantship Programme (GAP).
