In 1956, IMEDE came into being in Lausanne, Switzerland, through a partnership between Nestlé and Harvard Business School.
With the goal of developing global leaders, the institute merged with IMI in Geneva in 1989 to become IMD, which included a campus in Lausanne. IMD and Nestlé remained close, and in 1997 the IMD MBA Nestlé Scholarship for Women was created to encourage future female leaders.

Eligibility Criteria of the Scholarship:
- The applicant must be a female of any nationality.
- preference to women from developing countries
- The applicant must have superior academic or professional standing including GPA (or equivalent) and GMAT/GRE.
- The applicant must intend to enroll in the MBA for career progression and international exposure.
- The applicant must be able to contribute to the overall learning experience of the class.
- The applicant cannot be a recipient of additional scholarships.
Application Process:
- Interested candidates must complete the Scholarships and Bursaries form found under the Financial Planning section of the MBA application form.
- The candidate must submit an essay on the following topic in 750 words:
- “Building a diverse and inclusive workplace requires the participation and accountability of each member of the organization. What would you recommend as ways for Nestlé to better foster allyship amongst employees?”
Value of the Scholarship:
The selected candidates are awarded a sum of CHF 40,000.
