Applicants from the Global South (Asia, Africa, and Latin America), post-Soviet republics, and eastern and south-eastern European (EU) nations are eligible to apply for the fellowship.

Academic Requirements:

  • Enrollment at a state or state-recognized higher education institution in Germany.
  • Above-average performance in school and during studies, as well as first-grade certificates of academic accomplishment.
  • Adequate command of German, even when classes are taught in English. This includes a “Test Deutsch als Fremdsprache” of at least level 4, a “Deutsche Sprachprüfung für den Hochschulzugang” of at least DSH level 2, a “Zertifikat C 1” from a Goethe Institute, the “Deutsche Sprachdiplom der Kultusministerkonferenz” on level II, or Telc C1 Hochschule.

Benefits of Friedrich Ebert Foundation Scholarship For International Students:

  • International students receive a monthly base amount of 830 EUR (for Bachelor’s/Diplom/Magister/state examination programs) or 850 EUR (for Master’s programs). In addition, costs for health insurance are funded and scholars with a child receive a family allowance of 276 EUR.
