F A De La Mare Memorial Prize at University of Auckland 2026 In New Zealand

First awarded in 1978, the Prize is supported by donations made by the beneficiaries of Sophia Ruth de la Mare’s bequest, which honors her late husband Frederick Archibald de la Mare. After earning his BA and LLB degrees from the University of New Zealand, he worked as an attorney in Hamilton from 1910 until 1948. From 1919 until 1947, he served as a representative of Convocation in the New Zealand University Senate.

Eligibility for F A De La Mare Memorial Prize:

• Every year, the prize will be given to a student in the Faculty of Law who has completed all three Part III elective courses—LAW 301 Land Law, LAW 306 Equity, and LAW 316 Jurisprudence—and who has met the requirements of the Bachelor of Laws (LLB) in that year. At a minimum, the student needs to have completed those courses with a GPA of 7.00, or an A-average.
• The University of Auckland Council will award the Prize based on the suggestion of the Dean of the Faculty of Law (or designee).
• If there isn’t a candidate with enough merit, the University of Auckland is not required to give out the Prize.
• This scholarship[ cannot be shared with any other scholarship.

Students don’t need to fill out an online application or apply for this scholarship. It is given out based on the advice of the appropriate University of Auckland committee or faculty.
