Denis Henry Desty Undergraduate Scholarship 2022 In UK

Denis Henry Desty Undergraduate Scholarship programme supports students from under-represented backgrounds in their chemistry studies. The programme was established in memory of Denis Henry Desty, who studied chemistry at Southampton in the 1940s and went on to become a pioneer in the fields of chromatography and combustion science.

Eligibility for Denis Henry Desty Undergraduate Scholarship:

• Students in four-year MChem Programmes.
• Students from under-represented backgrounds.

Selection Criteria for Denis Henry Desty Undergraduate Scholarship :

• Financial need: We will priorities students from under-represented backgrounds, who will benefit from financial support to allow them to focus fully on their academic studies.
• Academic ability: Students should demonstrate a very strong academic ability and the potential to be a high achiever whilst at university.
• Extra-curricular activity and leadership skills: We will look for well-rounded individuals who have the potential to excel beyond academia and inspire those around them.
• Work experience and career aspirations: We wish to select students who have ambitious career plans, which will use the chemistry and broader skills they develop throughout their degree.

Value of Denis Henry Desty Undergraduate Scholarship :

• The student will receive 2,000 pounds per year, for each year they are studying at Southampton. Each recipient will receive up to 8,000 pounds during the four-year course, depending on whether they undertake a paid placement year as part of their studies, during which they would not receive a payment.
