The Ecole Normale Supérieure welcomes students from all sectors and nations who are enrolled in either the first year of their master’s degree (master 1) or the third year of their bachelor’s degree (license 3), with the aim of broadening its student community. The competitive examination of the international selection is aimed at young graduates in the arts and sciences who demonstrate remarkable performance and can justify studying for at least a year as an undergraduate at a foreign university.

Eligibility:
- On December 1st, candidates may not be older than 26.
- Candidates are not eligible to apply more than once for the International Selection.
- Candidates cannot have spent more than ten months living in France in either the prior year or the academic year of the selection (September 1–August 31).
- It is required of candidates to provide proof of completing at least one year of undergraduate study at a foreign university in the year before applications open.
- On September 1st, the year after admission, candidates must justify completing at least two years of undergraduate study at a foreign university.
