Description For Bishop Music Prizes:Â
Mr. Charles John Bishop established the Bishop Music Prizes from a fund bequeathed to the University of Auckland under his will to encourage the study of Musical Composition at the University.
Regulations:
- The Council will award one Junior Prize of $1,000 annually to the student who has obtained the highest mark in MUS 111 and is continuing their study in Composition the following year.
- Similarly, the Council will also award one Senior Prize of $1,000 annually to the student who has achieved the highest mark in MUS 211 or MUS 311 and is continuing to study Composition in the year following the award.
- A student who has received the Junior Prize can subsequently be awarded the Senior Prize.
- The Head of the School of Music will recommend the awardees, and the Council will confer the Prizes.
